Y8 has launched the beta version of its new Developer Portal, providing game developers with a clearer and more organized way to submit, update and manage their games on the platform.
The portal brings important parts of the publishing process into one place. Developers can provide their game information, complete the required SDK steps, upload game builds, configure achievements and leaderboards, follow the review process and view the revenue earned by their games.
As a beta release, the portal will continue to evolve based on developer feedback and real-world use. The current version establishes the main publishing workflow, while additional quality assurance, revenue analytics and payment features are planned.
The Developer Portal supports multiple builds for the same game. This makes it easier for developers to upload updated versions while keeping the submission process organized.
Developers can see the status of their builds and understand which version is currently being reviewed. This is especially useful when a game requires changes after testing or when a developer wants to submit an improved version after release.
Patch notes can also be added to relevant builds, allowing developers to explain what has changed. These notes help both the Y8 review team and players understand whether a new build contains bug fixes, performance improvements, SDK changes, new content or other updates.
Developers participating in Y8’s revenue-sharing program can view the revenue earned by their games directly through the Developer Portal. This gives them a convenient overview of how each game is performing financially without requiring a separate reporting process.
More detailed revenue analytics are planned for a future update. These tools will provide developers with additional information and insights into the performance of their games.
By bringing game management and earnings information together, the portal makes it easier for developers to follow both the publishing and revenue sides of their Y8 games.
A dedicated Feedback tab helps developers find review comments and reported issues without searching through separate email conversations.
When the Y8 team identifies a problem with a submitted game, the feedback can be connected directly to the relevant submission or build. This gives developers a clearer understanding of what needs attention and helps them prepare the next version more efficiently.
Keeping builds, patch notes and feedback together should make communication between developers and the review team faster and easier to follow.
The Developer Portal also supports achievements and leaderboards, giving developers more ways to keep players engaged with their games.
Developers can create achievements based on milestones, challenges or important moments within a game. These can reward players for completing levels, reaching certain scores, unlocking content or accomplishing other objectives.
Leaderboards can also be added to let players compare their scores and compete with others. Developers can configure these features through the portal and connect them to their games through the Y8 SDK.
Bringing achievement and leaderboard management into the portal makes it easier for developers to add these features and update them as their games evolve.
Y8 is also developing a more comprehensive quality assurance system for the portal.
The planned QA tools will allow developers to check their games for possible issues before submitting them for final review. These checks are expected to cover common problems related to loading, screen sizes, platform compatibility, mobile support, SDK integration and other technical requirements.
The goal is to help developers identify problems earlier, reduce avoidable review delays and provide clearer information about the changes required before publication.
The QA system will continue to improve as Y8 gathers more information about the most common issues found during game submissions.
Future updates will also bring a more streamlined payment process to the Developer Portal.
Developers will be able to manage payment-related information through the same portal they use for their games. This will make it easier to review payment details, follow the processing status and complete the necessary steps without relying on separate manual communication.
Automatic invoicing is coming soon. Once available, the system will automatically prepare invoices based on eligible earnings and the developer’s selected payment method. This should reduce paperwork, prevent common invoicing errors and make payment processing more efficient.
The beta launch is the first stage of a wider effort to make publishing on Y8 more transparent and efficient.
Game submissions, multiple builds, patch notes, revenue reporting, review feedback, achievements, leaderboards, quality checks and payment processing are being brought together into a connected workflow. During the beta period, some features and processes may change as the portal is improved and expanded.
Developers can access the beta portal at developer.y8.com and begin using the new submission workflow.
